Alwande

I've known Alwande since birth, and it's been so amazing to watch him go from an adorable baby to a shy little boy to a confident, outspoken kid.

Alwande had a slight speech delay, so I enrolled him for speech therapy with our wonderful therapist Liza. His speech improved dramatically and he graduated out of speech therapy within a few months. It was amazing to see how his confidence skyrocketed when he felt more comfortable speaking - just goes to show how important it is to give children access to these kinds of resources.

He's subsequently become one of the funniest and wittiest children I've come across - his comments often leave me in stitches. I don't know where he comes up with his commentary, but my goodness he's funny.

Alwande started Grade 1 at the beginning of 2024 and thoroughly enjoys school. His reading skills are amazing and he's started taking over the reading of his and Asande's bedtime story. He loves creating quizzes for me to do - they're clever little brainteasers and they can be quite tricky! Alwande also loves getting quizzes to do himself, so I frequently find myself writing out maths sums for him to practice on the weekends.

Alwande is an absolute soccer fanatic, with a particular devotion to Cristiano Ronaldo. This means I've had to brush up on my soccer knowledge in order to remain relevant to Alwande 😎 it's amazing to see how much joy soccer brings to his life! He will be trying out for the soccer team at his school soon, and I'm really excited for him to be able to get involved in this game he loves so much.
