“When I grow up, I want to be a tourist (me too Bukho, me too)”
Bukho is a soft-spoken boy with the biggest heart. He is Kitty's older brother and Imo and Akhumtha's cousin, and he takes his role of being the oldest very seriously, always looking out for the younger kids and making sure they're okay. He's quick to show affection and gives me tons of cuddles at all of our events.
Bukho loves soccer and will take any opportunity to get involved in a game - even if it's with a ball that's torn and almost fully deflated. He makes sure all the kids are included, even the littles, and that the game is fair. This means he is also not afraid to hand out penalties if he feels they are warranted.
We spent one of Bukho's birthdays at the Blue Train park, and he invited all of his friends to join him. It was clear that he is the ringleader of the gang.
He is committed to looking fashionable at all times and loves a statement piece. I don't want to sound too cheesy here, but I've got to say it like it is - his smile is always the best part of his outfits.
Bukho has recently started play therapy which is a great way for him to work through some of the challenges he has faced, and I'm really grateful that he has a safe space in which he can process it all. Our next goal for Bukho is to get him enrolled in an after-school soccer programme, so watch this space - we're about to have a soccer star on our hands!
